Cub Pack

Monday 18:30 - 20:00 St Andrews Church Hall

The Cub Pack runs an exciting programme of both inside and outside activities each Monday evenings, It's open to any young person from 8 - 10 1/2 years

Cub Scouts Pack is the third section (after Beavers) in the Scouting family. Cubs can move to the next section Scouts, around the age of ten and a half.

Programmes for the weekly meetings are designed to provide a wide variety of activities to bring out the best in the young people whilst ensuring that they have an enjoyable time. These activities include visits to places of interest, talks / demonstrations provided by outside organisations, games, craft work and general badge work. In addition Cubs have the opportunity to attend camps and activity days some of which are with other packs. This will mean you sleeping in a tent and doing loads of outdoor activities.

As a Cub Scout you will:

  • have a lot of fun
  • try lots of new things
  • play games
  • make friends

Investitures

Once your child has been to at least four meetings they will be eligible to become a Cub Scout. Either you can ask me (if your child hassles you!) or I will ask after about seven meetings.

To be invested your child must attend at least four meetings and answer some questions about this pack and scouting in general. The questions will be sent to you after about three weeks' attendance. All the answers can be found on this page.
To become invested they will be required to:

  • Make the salute by holding the right hand at shoulder height in the position shown.
  • Learn the Cub promise.

Sometimes photographs and video images of Cubs taking part in activities are submitted to the local newspapers, the Group, District or County newsletters and website or are put out on display.

When you fill in the Young person form when joining the group or you can update permission through your child's OSM page to indicate whether you agree or disagree with this policy.

Please note that photographs taken by parents of Cub should only be used for personal use and should not be placed in any public domain without the subjects parent's specific permission.

We also ask parents & carers to fill in the follow form here and return it to your young person section leaders

Moving up to Scouts

Stephen Rickett-Browne, the Scout Leader, normally comes to a couple of Cub meetings prior to your child going up. On the monday that your child starts he will be there to meet them.

Your child will continue to wear their Cub uniform when they first go up to Scouts. Once we have established that your child is happy at Scout Troop, they can wear the Scout Shirt. When your child is invested into Scout Troop, they will be given their new badges.
